Financial Stress is Mental Health Stress

Have you ever found yourself lying awake at night thinking about money and then feeling guilty or silly for stressing about it?

You’re not alone.

Someone reached out to me recently because her financial situation was causing so much distress, it was starting to impact her mental health.

Wise woman.

Because here’s the truth: financial stress isn’t limited to people living in poverty.

It shows up at every income level, and it absolutely affects your emotional, mental, and physical health.

One study found that 65% of women rank personal finances as a top stressor.

Another found that 93% experience stress around managing money.

And that’s before we even factor in the gender pay gap (which adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars over a lifetime—[I wrote a blog about that here]).

And yet… hiring a money coach or financial therapist can feel frivolous.

Elitist. Indulgent. Like it’s not a “valid” reason to invest in yourself.

There’s this message that you’re supposed to figure it out on your own. You should be able to figure it out on your own.

Just budget better. Quit buying lattes. Read the books.

But very few women were ever taught how to make, manage, or feel safe with money.

And we’ve definitely been taught not to talk about our stress around it, how much money we make, and how much debt we have.

Here’s what one of my clients recently shared:

“When I first started working with Nichole, I was drowning in credit card debt, visiting food pantries, and stuck in deep shame and scarcity. A year later, I’ve paid off tens of thousands in debt, handled major medical bills with calm, and I no longer live in fear of my finances. The old me would’ve spiraled—but now, I trust that things will work out. Nichole helped me shift into abundance, self-trust, and empowerment. It changed my life.”

That’s what this work is about.

Money coaching (or financial therapy, if that feels more comfortable) is not just about “getting better with money.” It’s about:

  • Not freaking out when you think about your bank account, your debt, or your retirement

  • Feeling like you are going to be ok when that unexpected bill comes in

  • Processing your emotions around money

  • Uncovering money stories that have been passed from one generation to the next and will keep on being passed along there until YOU uncover and heal them for yourself

  • Rebuilding your relationship with yourself

  • Creating boundaries in life and business

  • Trusting the unfolding of your path

  • Attracting better opportunities, aligned clients, and more support

  • Taking bold action from a grounded place

  • Making more of it!!

It’s about becoming the version of you who knows that everything is working out...even when it’s hard.

And yes, you can get all of that through this work with me.

If you’re ready to finally feel calm, clear, and grounded around money—not just once your circumstances change, but now Awakened Wealth is here for you.
